ACROSS THE ISLAND
Just wanted to share a few pics today!
The other day I went on a hike with Hartley and a Canadian girl from our hostel. You can walk from one side of the island to the other in about an hour.

On the other side, there’s a beach with only one guesthouse on it. Gorgeous!

This was my favorite sign on the bar at the only restaurant there. No have? No have what?

I found an empty basket too.

And this is the view of the more inhabited side of the island, taken on the hike back.

This landscape is so great- I love that sign! I think it will fit in your bag! M
That photo of you in the basket is begging me to ask you: did you go for a little basket ride in the ocean with it? I see an ore, so it is possible…so did you?
Hahahahha NO HAVE! Maybe it’s meant to say “no half” like no half fish offerings? I don’t know..trying to be creative here. : )
I love your new top banner with the sparklers. How perfect for your site!
I wish I could say I rowed that basket out to sea. That would have been fantastic…but I was afraid of losing control of it and/or angering its owner, whoever it was.
Isn’t that sign great? I never did figure out what it meant. My mom saw the picture and wanted one like it – such a good all-purpose denial of any request!
You & Hartley have really found paradise! Wish I was there with you soaking up all of that sun! Have you ventured into the ocean yet to see what’s below? I bet the diving and snorkeling is amazing! Any good shells on the beaches?
I saw lots of fishermen using those round basket boats in Vietnam…..the whole deal looked rather precarious from my vantage point. It made for a great photo of you anyway! You & Hartley could always buy one and set a little “photo op” kiosk on the beach to earn some money!!!!!!
By the way….those young girls selling the woven bracelets on the other beach looked rather intimidating…with all their makeup and attitude you can guess where their lives are headed….so sad.
Take good care. We are enjoying Hartley’s blog along with yours….way fun! LOVE- The Other Mom!
Hartley has done a bit of snorkeling…there’s supposed to be some good rocks around here somewhere. No shells though. We are fine and still having a great time!
What a cute little boat!
I was dying to take a basket ride. Should have done it.
Really nice pictures!!
I think the “no have” is referring to “no have fish”, as in we’re out of fish???
Thanks! Maybe that’s what it means. I should have checked to see if the other side said “Have”!
